Anita Tilkam brings mid-size accounting firm experience to our smaller enterprise. Well-versed in paperless systems, cloud-based collaboration & coaching, documentation and working papers, Anita shapes Harrop Scott & Associates’ vision and develops new tools for present and future work. She also enhances team & project management, sales proposals and budgets. A senior bookkeeper, Anita produces impeccable working papers and actively reviews other team members’ files providing guidance and feedback. Anita’s vision is to create documentation for seamless transitions and provide reporting tailored to each client, no matter which stage of business development they are in. With a B.Sc. in computer science, diploma in accounting and bookkeeping, and payroll certificates, Anita has the technical knowledge and skills to delve deeply into all areas of bookkeeping including inventory, point-of-sales, taxes and complex payroll reconciliations.
Ansub Shafique is a key contributor to Harrop Scott and Associate’s training, management consulting and tax services. Ansub brings strong research, IT knowledge and a nuanced & sophisticated perspective to our clients’ daily challenges. He organizes project costs and assists new clients set up QuickBooks Desktop and Online files. Ansub patiently guides clients through their internal bookkeeping workflow and ensures bookkeeping, year ends, GST/HST, payroll, EHT, WSIB, ROEs, T1 and T2 filings are completed with a high level of accuracy. Ansub holds a Bachelor of Administrative Studies from York University and is working towards the CPA designation.
Eileen Wright delivers a wide range of weekly and monthly bookkeeping services for clients in diverse industries including photographers, interior designers, and IT consultants. Using a systematic and organized approach, Eileen regularly prepares government returns and remittances. You can depend on Eileen’s reliability and flexibility to meet deadlines and keep your accounting system up-to-date. Eileen effectively implements bookkeeping improvements, tracks outstanding questions, and provides regular reports and status updates to business owners. A dedicated learner, Eileen continues to take courses at George Brown College and attends QuickBooks workshops.
Cynthia Young brings 20 years of bookkeeping experience for manufacturers and import/export firms to the Harrop Scott & Associates team. Cindy is familiar with inventory systems, SKUs, freight forwarding, and customs and duties are second nature to her. A morning person, Cindy can bring thoughtful solutions to your enterprise at the beginning of the day. Cindy documents your bookkeeping processes and looks for practical solutions to financial issues. A strong QuickBooks user, Cindy patiently trains business owners to enter transactions and is astute in determining how to explain things to non-accountants and those who are scared of numbers.
Tom Zhang administers account reconciliations, payroll, invoicing and payables services to several of Harrop Scott & Associates’ E-commerce and design clients. Working remotely and on-site, Tom proactively anticipates upcoming deadlines and requirements so clients are always assured of compliance with CRA, WSIB and Ontario’s Ministry of Finance. A Certified Professional Bookkeeper (IPBC) and advanced QuickBooks Desktop and QBO ProAdvisor, Tom has over 8 years’ experience with Toronto businesses. A keen user of accounting information databases, Tom assists clients improve and enhance their technology setup to maximize the data mining potential.
Martha Krol provides full-cycle bookkeeping services to small businesses using QuickBooks and Excel. Martha specializes in documenting office policies and procedures, and organizing project management. Martha sets up systems with cross-checks and easily accessible management reports for high reliability of information and good internal control. Martha enjoys working in almost paperless offices, but is also comfortable working with manual systems for less tech-savvy business owners. With an excellent background and experience in computers, project management, and quantitative data analysis, Martha can work with complex data and map out efficient solutions.
John McDiarmid (a Chartered Accountant since 1993) provides consulting and advisory services to Harrop Scott & Associates’ clients. John enhances the analysis provided by Siobhan and the other bookkeepers to answer clients’ specific needs. John specializes in project work for large corporations and has worked in a variety of industries. Recent clients include Guardian Capital, Royal Bank, Canadian Tire, and Sobeys with projects involving financial reporting, system development, and problem solving for management reporting (including integration of business units). A highly skilled Microsoft Excel user, John provides extensive creation and development of existing and new tools for financial analysis. John assists businesses with complex problems, filling in gaps in existing staffing. He provides a strong bridge to complete the required work and training to staff in improved techniques for performing routine and non-routine work.
Kathryn Kingston specializes in optimizing administrative systems and in-depth analysis of accounts receivable and accounts payable. Kathryn streamlines processes and works to automate cheque runs, processing of payroll batches and bank reconciliations. With an extremely fine eye for detail and recognition of patterns and inter-relationships between account balances, Kathryn can untangle tricky bookkeeping issues. Kathryn also has a special interest in Point-of-Sale systems and customizing reports for management and financial accounting. Kathryn has over twenty years bookkeeping and administrative experience and has worked in insurance, manufacturing, health care, construction, and retail industries.
